I finalley got my STI Spartan 45 ACP (1911) on the range the other day. I put about 200 rounds down range without one single problem. That pistol shoots good. I had to adjust the rear sight up 3 clicks to be zeroed. From 12 ft. out to 25 ft. that thing shot some tight groups. I was very impressed with it, and would recomend it to anyone who is looking for a good quility 1911 for under $700.00.
My next 1911 will be the STI Escort 45 ACP.

Thanks for the report.
What made you choose the Spartan over some of the competition?

I looked around on the net, and everyone that had anything to say about the Spartan was nothing but good. When I looked at it at the local gun shop it felt really good in my hand, better then any other one I picked up. I was looking at all the Kimbers, and I was set on a Kimber (not a specific model), but after looking at and handling the Spartan, my mind was made up. And the fact that it has adjustable rear sights helped some.

I was also thinking about one. Where did you find an STI locally?

Good choice, I've had a Spartan since April of '07. I have put a couple of thousand rounds through it with no problems except it doesn't like Wilson mags

but it really likes McCormick, Novak, and MecGar mags.
By the way, when were you in the 82nd? I was there in 1969-1970. I was a Red Hat (Rigger.)
