I heard that it wasn't, but just to make sure... is it required that
you register all your guns?
And, if it was, who would you register them with exactly?

We don't register guns in Texas. If you want to register your guns, you need to go to Obamaland (Illinois), but I wouldn't recommend it.

There's no registration in most of Illinois, just in the Chicagoland area.

So, that must mean in that area registration is required under some city or county ordinance, right?
What's stopping some city in Texas from passing an ordinance requiring registration?

Texas has a law that says no county or municipality can.
I don't know the exact wording or the legal code for it though...

In Texas, Local Government Code ยง229.001 prohibits counties and municipalities from regulating firearms beyond what state law allows. Generally, local government can regulate only the discharge of firearms.
The structure of government in Illinois is very different. Many cities and counties can create felony offenses and other government functions more strict than state law.

Great, they should pass an ordinance allowing the discharge of firearms into dope dealers!

And require the use of hollow points!
I know, I know...we gotta give the dirtbags a fair trial

I register my guns every time I clean`em.
After they are clean I load up the mags all nice and full. Then I insert the mag into the well.
I then pull back the slide. and let it pull itself forward. A cartridge is stripped out of the mag and is pushed into the chamber. The breech all holds everything in nice and snug. It's registered.

I lived in Alton, IL (across the river from St. Louis) 40 years ago and IIRC, there was a requirement for a picture ID if you were a gun owner/hunter that applied to long guns as well as handguns. If that's not registration, it's awful close.
Illinois doesn't have the gun owner's ID card anymore?

John F. Kennedy wrote:Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom
Hard to believe JFK ever said that...
One thing is for sure is that he wouldn't be allowed to participate in today's liberal democratic party.
They'd give him the left boot of fellowship

Yes, they do still have the FOID card. You need one to even purchase ammunition.

But having a FOID is merely (as distasteful as it is) gun user registration, not gun registration. While we lived in IL, my wife had a FOID, but she did not own any guns, and after I moved ahead to TX, she lived in a house where there were no guns, but she still had a FOID.
In IL you are required to have a FOID to handle a gun, which does not require ownership.

Thanks, I knew I remembered some sort of something about guns and an ID card from nearly a half century ago. Since the FOID is not registration
per se, I'll bet all of the bad guys have their card.
