DEA agent giving speech on gun safety states he's the only one in the room professional enough to carry a Glock... and proves himself wrong.

[Edited 10/27/05: Link was deleted as it was changed from the original AD video to a porn web site. It was not the poster's fault, the link was changed. Chas.]

Thanks!!

This is priceless! I'm not picking on the guy, in spite of the overly arrogant comment, I'm saving the video to use in classes.

Thanks Paladin,
Chas.

Staged?

Well, maybe I won't use the video. There is a pretty good discussion on packing.org about this incident and there seem to be a good number of folks that believe it was staged. Some good points are raised, like the response of some people to the "shooting," the DEA agent's minimal response to what would be a significant leg injury, and some others.

On the other side, there was a post to an on-line news article discussing the incident and saying the unnamed agent was treated at a hospital for a leg injury. Here's the link: http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-online/s ... _dea.shtml I also didn't see or hear the "screaming and crying" mentioned in the article, nor did anyone seem too upset.

It could be legit, maybe not; I don't know.
Chas.

He really calls attention to his stupidity when he says "I had an AD".

Excuse me.... Hello.... You pulled the trigger WITH YOUR FINGER. That is NOT an accidental discharge. That is negligence.

DEA Director

I heard from someone whose information is usually pretty good that this did happen, and the "agent" was injured.

A He also said the Director of the DEA discovered this incident by seeing the video on the internet... apparently everyone involved tried to sweep it under the rug.

Can't prove it's true...but I'm pretty conviced it is.

FWIW

What I've read says that the agent shot himself in the leg. The DEA fed some fishy story about how the gun was still loaded to the press(apparently a loaded mag was in the gun, and the agent chambered a round when he dropped the slide), and the DEA was searching pretty hard to find out who leaked the video.

Claim: Video captures a DEA agent who accidentally shot himself while conducting a presentation on gun safety.

Status: True.

"Fortunately, the agent did not sustain serious injury (it isn't clear from the news accounts and video whether he was actually hit by a bullet or suffered a powder burn to his thigh from the close-range discharge), and he returned to work after being treated at Orlando Regional Medical Center."

"Everyone was pretty shaken up," Farmer said. "But the point of gun safety hit home. Unfortunately, the agent had to get shot. But after seeing that, my nephew doesn't want to have anything to do with guns."
Just what we need. Scare them in being anti's.

I watched the video and read the report from Snopes.com and I don't think that guy should be in the LEO line. He calls the gun a "glock 40" AFIK Glock doesn't make a "40" model. they make them in the .40 caliber but the model # does not denote the caliber. Maybe he was trying to relate to the audience by using the street name for the gun, but IMO he should have said something like this "This a Glock ##, the gun that is commonly refereed to as the Glock 40 on the street"

He was way to cocky in the manner in which he waved the gun around. He made no move to check the gun when he pulled it, and then his finger was very near the trigger the whole time it was out. Apparently the finger went ON the trigger when he was laying it down too.

IMO this is not the kind of guy that I want to be in the LEO line of work
