Wouldn't this be something, the President's own state allowing concealed carry. And the Sheriff is right, 48 states can't be wrong. And I just get a kick out of comments like these by the anti's

If the Illinois legislature passes a concealed-carry bill, I can't see Gov. Pat Quinn signing it. He is an old-time Chicago Machine guy.

Illinois also has a big problem when it comes to local laws: The more populous cities and counties can create their own criminal offenses in addition to state law. If the state allowed concealed carry, the entire northeastern corner of the state would prohibit is.

There's probably little chance of a pre-emption bill passing the legislature. Too many representatives come from the Chicago area.

They could make it "may issue" rather than "shall issue"
so permits could be issued to the politically connected and
the 2nd & 3rd place bidders for Obama's old Senate seat.

Unless things have changed since I left Illinois, they have a back-door method for giving permits to politically connected people: making them reserve deputy sheriffs.

Some goofball alderman or other politico was always being caught driving drunk while carrying a weapon or some other idiocy.

Is it getting cold downstairs.. I feel a draft if The Peoples Republic of Illinois passes this, But even if it is may issue that is a great start.

The Illinois State Rifle Association web site keeps up with this news (though it's not very well organized): http://www.isra.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The site is maintained by volunteers in their spare time.

The Illinois State Rifle Association is leading a pro-RKBA rally in Springfield (the state capital) today.

[Later] About 5,000 people attended the rally. That's pretty impressive for a group that is not organized at the national level: http://www.wifr.com/home/headlines/41126182.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The legislature was not impressed.

An Illinois Senate committee tabled the concealed-carry bill, killing it for this legislative session.

(This TV station is in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, but you sure couldn't tell from their web site.)

That's a shame. The POTUS and his cronies are from Chicago and he promised us CHANGE. Maybe his cronies back in the flatulent city haven't got the word yet? :roll:
