I was in Colorado last week and as we were leaving the restaurant I held the door for a guy and as he walked by I noticed (in pretty plain view) a 1911 IWB at about 4oclock.

As we walked out I asked my brother who lives there if Colorado is an open carry state, he said no (I looked it up and apparently it is but not in cities, it was confusing on the subject)

So I am guessing, based on the way he was carrying, that his jacket must have gotten pulled up getting out of the car.

My question is this if you saw someone here in Texas who was accidently not concealed would you tell them, and how?

Draw and fire! They could be dangerous.

I think proper etiquette would be to make fun of their gun.
"Well, when ya grow up, mebbe you'll carry a MAN'S caliber...."

you know, something like that....

or if they're carrying a .45, you make fun of their capacity.

It depends if it can be done tactfully while minimizing public attention. If it is quite obvious (a shirt stuck behind the grip in contrast to a momentary shirt/vest blown to the side) and (s)he is unaware, I may try to say something low and coded like, 'your 2nd amendment is showing' and smile. I think we should all try and support and help each other and in this situation it can go either way. Some folks may actually get annoyed (more with themselves but projecting it on you) or they may laugh a bit and appreciate the heads up.

Look at it this way. I'd much rather look like an idiot and have someone point out my sidearm was showing, rather than have the local authority "Talk" with me about it..

A friend of mine noticed a pistol showing in the small of the back of a guy in the Wally World check out line. He just leaned forward and mentioned "your hogleg is showing". The guy pulled his jacket down and thanked him.

I have let one person know they were showing... just quietly mentioned that, "your shirt is hung up on something there."

He probably walked away thinking, "Man, people ARE sheep... I was totally exposed and he didn't realize it was a gun."

After getting up from a chair, my vest hem bottom caught on the inside grip of my Glock, completely exposing pistol and holster. As I walked past a friend he spotted this no-no and quickly let me know.

We were in public place smoking fine, hand rolled cigars. Fortunately, I didn't get far before he noticed. I now check every time I get up from a sitting position and I've caught it stuck a few times more. I now pay special attention to this potential and reposition as necessary before the general public gets an eyeful, or worse...

It may also be a good idea to NOT bend over without first checking if you'll be in violation. At Home Depot the other day I made sure to squat straight down to look at some fittings rather than bend over to look at them as I wanted.

I guess you could have grabbed the gun and took it from him so we would have and example of that actually happening.

According to anti-gun folks the proper reaction is to gasp, scream "HE'S GOT A GUNNNN!!!", and run while wetting your pants.

I would have just told the guy his jacket was ridding-up and went on my way.

There was a guy in his early 20's a couple of weeks ago in line at Academy in front of me. He had an OWB holster in the small of his back. The whole holster was showing except for the handle of his pistol. When he looked my way, I quietly nodded said...."you're ridin High"....No one else heard me. He pulled his shirt back down, and never smiled, nodded, said thank you or anything.....Ungrateful Kids !!!
