--snip--

"We expect to have a comprehensive approach to dealing with these issues of border security that will involve supporting Calderon and his efforts in a partnership, also making sure we are dealing with the flow of drug money and guns south, because it's really a two-way situation there," said Obama.

"The drugs are coming north, we're sending funds and guns south," he said. "As a consequence, these cartels have gained extraordinary power. Our expectation is to have a comprehensive policy in place in the next few months."

BTW, I heard that Obama has already stated that he is NOT going to send Regular Army or NG units to the border for any reason...I am trying to find the source of this rumor, but then again we are probably not surprised, regardless of what was said in this article...

We should really just spend a couple billion dollars and build a big fence between our countries, that should fix the problem....oh wait...

Dredge the Rio Grande nice and deep, and dig a deepwater canal the rest of the way to the Pacific. Let the navy patrol it. Years of unskilled labor to stimulate the economy, and drunken sailors spending their money in our ports to keep it stimulated.

:iagree: Fangs, my brother has long had the idea of landmines, which was our best idea yet. But letting the navy patrol it sounds superior! Never thought of that! How deep would the river need to be dredged down to pass a navy boat? :thumbs2:

I thought the main purpose of any country's army was to defend the country's land borders. :headscratch

Not as much fun without carriers and maybe a destroyer or two.

Nothing says "turn around and go back" like a good bombardment.

Mine fields are lower Maintenance, and are more effective if properly done.
