I have applied for my CCL and I am trying to decide what gun to buy. I like the looks and think I would like to have the springfield emp 9mm but I can't find one to look at other than on the internet. I have seen sereral for sale on the internet, one claimed to be the A-1 model with a match grade barrel, does this sound right? It is a very nice looking gun but I am not sure if that is the gun I should purchase for my concealed carry gun. Anybody out there have an emp and could you tell me what you think of it?

There are several on the board that carry an EMP & am sure they will speak.
That is one I reall would like to have that may never happen but never the less I would like one.
I think they are a the best weapon I have never shot.

I bought a Springer EMP 9mm for my wife and put 300 rounds through it without a FTF or FTF. I highly recommend it, but it is very pricey when less expensive alternatives exist. My justification was the smaller grip and great trigger pull... Springfield did not just modify a 1911 .45ACP to accomodate the 9mm round... they shrunk it... so it is perfect for my wife's smaller hands. She likes my Glock 26, but it just does not fit her hand right. She now has several hundred rounds through it and really loves it. It is almost too great looking, so accordingly you might not want to mess it up as a daily carry piece. I had the same problem with my Kimber Ultra CDP .45 ACP when it was new, but after 3 years of daily carry I don't worry about cosmetics anymore. BTW, the EMP is the same size as the Ultra CDP. Springer makes the EMP in a .40 cal, but that must really be a handful to shoot, but I don't have any experience to support that.

I have one that and it was one of the 1st 1,000 or so made. I love mine and highly recommend it, if it fits what you are looking for.
If you are in DFW I would be willing to let you try it out at the range sometime.

I have one and like it a lot.
But other than the smaller grip circumference it's really no smaller than a Kimber or Springfield 3" with slim grips.
If you have small hands the EMP may be the ticket.
If you don't need the smaller grip, one of the other choices can save you hundreds of $
By the way, you guys with EMPs - Some people are modifying the stock mags to get rid of the rubber bumper and leave a flush fit.
I found a guy on another board to do them for $25 each. My gun came with 7 mags so I'm going to have a couple shortened.
PM me if you are interested and I'll give you contact info.
