What if this guy had run into your workplace?

Multiple Oakland, CA police officers killed by 27 year old felon with extensive criminal history:

What if he had run into your place of employment, who would have protected the employees?

What if he had run into your child's school, who would have protected the children?

What if he had run into your favorite restaurant or theater while treating your family to a night out, who would have protected them?

With this real life story, these are the questions every legislator, employer, school administrator, business owner, and person in America needs to be asked.

Another fine example of a State with highly restrictive gun laws with regards to the law abiding Citizen's. The Laws on the books are not obeyed by the BG's! What will they do?..............yep, more crazy Laws! :mad5

"What if..."

That sentiment is better served if you live in a place that relatively respects a private law abiding citizens right to keep and bear arms...Not too many of those places around these days...

Obviously, no one in California is capable or trusted enough to deal with a "what if"...And when they do, it is already too late for some people regardless of their station in life, because they are already dead...

You, I and the other members of this forum know the correct answers to your questions.

OTOH, the other side, the liberal anti-gunners, would say this would never have happened if guns weren't available...and therein lies the problem. :banghead:

What gets me is that I'm sure the anti-gun lobby will latch on to the fact that he used an "assault rifle". Never mind the fact that he's a convicted felon and shouldn't have owned any firearm, period. Obviously the existing California legislation failed to protect the four officers...so how will further legislation help?

I know...I'm "preaching to the choir"...

Its a tragedy in any state no matter what the gun laws are. It could have happened here or there. If there was an armed man with an EBR of some sorts and all I have is my pistol...I am not going after the guy. I will take notice of what is going on and direct the authorities in the direction to do the job they get payed for. Unless my life is on the line I'm no super hero.

In the famous words of a match director and moderator in this forum would say...

"SHOOTER READYYYYYYYY?"

At which point, in a certain pizzaria next to that infamous range...10+ IDPA competitors (fresh off the line) would stand and be ready...

The rest of what would happen would be the source of legend!

I'd be dead, because instead of being disarmed by the state, I am disarmed by my employer.

One of the few benefits I get at work is that very few of this type of person seem to willingly come into the building.

same here they would have to get past many armed guards in the parking lot and then get past several more in the lobby and then get past a very secured metal door into the building...........where he would be confronted by at least 50 Sigs. ......... but ya never know! any thing is possible. :patriot:

but, seriously, my condolences to our fellow brothers and the families affected by this tragedy. :tiphat:

Ditto, here. And I hope my family would use at least a portion of my estate for a law suit against said employer for:

1. Removing my ability to protect myself
2. Failing to protect me after removing my ability to do so

Especially since my employer also makes it impossible for me to travel to and from work armed if I am to comply with their corporate policies.

Don't think I haven't considered it.

But it's a matter of weighing practical risk and integrity. My chances are just as good as the other 50,000 employees of not having to defend my life on any given day; I choose to go to work 'naked' and take home a decent pay check while following the policies I agreed to in return for that pay check. I won't violate them, so my only choice is to abide by them or find a job with a different employer.

I obtained my CHL and carry when I can to mitigate that tiny risk that some criminal is going to pick me or an innocent victim near me to attack.

Before CHL, I guess the choice was "Dead, or jail. Hmmmm." :tiphat:
