I recently found out about Bayou Rifles using a Google search. When compared to a traditional pay-as-you-go range, the dues and amenities seem like a very good deal, and the variety of locations would help as well since I work all over town.

Are any of you members of Bayou Rifles? If so, I would appreciate some insight on the following questions since they weren't posted on their site.

1. Membership requirements. The site makes it seem as though this is a difficult club to get into, since there's what appears to be a lengthy application process. Is this some sort of exclusive thing, or am I likely to be approved as just a regular 21 year old guy who enjoys shooting pistols?
2. Range hours. Does anyone know at which times the ranges are accessible?
3. Can reloaded rounds be shot at their ranges?

It is a great club with a couple of nice ranges. Always helpful folks around when you need it, never a hassle to take a break and post targets.

The Juliff range is open to the membership utilizing the gate combination during daylight hours 7 days a week.

The Addicks range is currently open only with a Range Safety Officer on duty. This is currently schedule is Friday afternoons, Saturday and Sunday.

Not difficult to join, go to one of the orientations. These are held from 1pm - 2pm on the first Saturday of each month at the Juliff Range, except for the month of July, when orientation will be held on the second Saturday.

Fill out the app, submit initiation fee of $60 and membership fee of $12 per month for months remaining in the year (for the first year). Thereafter, annual dues of $140 are payable in January of each year.

They'll do a background check on you, then submit your app to the board for approval. Then you'll get your card and rules in the mail.

Generally, if you are able to legally own a firearm, you'll be able to be a member.

It's easier and FASTER than getting your CHL.

As far as reloads go, as long as you stay within the power and caliber requirement for each of the ranges, you should be OK.

I've been a member for many years, I sure don't miss American Shooting range.
