The link is to a front-page, but below the fold, article in the Austin American Statesman this morning on the plethora of bills on various gun topics making their way through the legislative process. The summary descriptions of the bills' actual impacts is lacking in most cases.

I think that my favorite comment had to be "guns and people do not belong in public"

We allow people in public? That is absurd! What the hell are our legislators thinking? We NEED to BAN people from public, it's just too dangerous for people to be in public around kids, I mean there could be molesters and rapists and other scum, what kind of effect does that have on children? A horrible effect that is, according to massive studies (which may or may not have been disproved, and may or may not have been seriously flawed, and may or may not have only been one study on a small scale 20 years ago that probably has no effect on today's social climate)

Here is MY favorite part of the article:
"House committee members indicated they will approve Driver's bill next week and send it to the House floor for what is expected to be a lively debate.
Approval is considered likely"
