Two women have reportedly committed four armed robberies in the past week in the area around I-45, Bay Area Boulevard, and NASA Road 1. In one robbery, the victim was hit with a baseball bat.

The robbers are described as
...two black women, one described as 18 to 25 years old, 5 feet to 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds.

The other was in her 40s, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 125 pounds to 135 pounds.

The women had, “wild looking, unbraided Afros,” said Thomas Claunch, deputy chief of Webster police.

These incidents further support my theory that the parking lots of strip malls and supermarkets adjacent to highways are high-risk areas.

(FYI, this area is southeast of Houston near Johnson Space Center.)

Saw this story on the news last night. Seems as though Webster has seen an increase in violent crimes recently. I sure hope it does not move a little further south!

Told my wife I would be accompanying her shopping :cryin in those areas until these women are stopped or caught.

Her CHL packet was put in the mail yesterday! :woohoo Once she is able to carry I will feel much better.

Property crime and robbery are a mirror image of the state of the economy, to some extent. Unemployment is up. Many people are desperate for money. Some crooks are smart enough to go where the wealthier people are, so you are going to see more crime in places like the ones mentioned above. I never go to Baybrook or Alameda Mall, but now I would be even more leery of them.

Bad news. Hopefully they'll be caught before more people are victimized, or before these robbers manage to bring baseball bats to a gunfight...
