I like the Bersa Thunder 380 CC but can't find any reasonably priced ammo right now - I have plenty of 40 cal for my Glock 23, but need a smaller gun for the Summer - a pocket carry sized like the Bersa Thunder. I know Bersa Thunder also has a 40 cal, and that's a possibility - any other recommendations? I would like something with a manual safety. I'd appreciate any recomendations. Thanks!

Speaking from daily experience, the Glock 27 and XD-40 sub.

I would recommend the PM series from Kahr. A little more pricey, but definitely a good choice. I carry the PM9, but the .40 (if you are stuck on that caliber) or the .45 versions are barely larger and will conceal as well or better than the Bersa IMO.

I have a Bersa Thunder UC in 9mm and it seems heavy IMO. A guy at work has Kahr and it's a nice little gun.

Purplehood is right about a Glock 27; I find I can carry a Glock 23 (can carry up to 15 rounds) in a cargo pocket just as easily. The slide is only about .5 inches longer.
I also like to carry a Sig P239 in .40 but it is a bit heavy. Good pistol however.

if you can find one... they are getting more and more rare, pick up a Kel-Tec P40, or pick up a P11 (9mm) with a P40 conversion. The 40 is the same size as the 9 it just carries a couple less rounds.

S&W M&P 40 compact however for a pocket gun my vote would be for the Kahr

Definitely a good choice for carry - however, not for pocket carry. I would recommend a Kahr PM40.

After many hours of handling small guns, I've decided on the Kahr PM40 for my next purchase. Mainly for pocket carry / BUG.

My sister like's the S&W M&P though. She'll be getting it for her main carry weapon after she gets her CHL.

Taurus PT 140, not sure about pocket carry, but I carry one at 3:00 in a IWB holster, also it holds 10 rounds.

I've recently become a fan of the Kahr pistols. A PM40 would fit your needs perfectly IMO.

I will at some point be picking up a PM45 myself.

I have been carrying my Glock 27 IWB at 3:00 almost everyday for 5 months now.No matter if it is hot or cold out this is my favorite carry gun.It doesn't have a manual thumb safety, it has a index finger safety. All jokes aside i would reccommend this gun to anyone.Before my Glock i carried my Beretta PX4 storm,now the only time it comes out of the safe is when i go to the range!
