Sig Sauer P6

I just found out about these this evening (although I may be a little late to the game). Apparently, they are German Mil/Police surplus. The price seems too good to pass up, especially for a Sig. I'm curious if anyone has any direct experience with them. From what I gathered, they are slightly modified P225's.

Like I said, the price is great for a Sig and I'd jump on it if it's decent!

I got one. I'm glad I did. It's a nice little pistol, especially for the price. Mine had a lot of holster wear, which I tried to remedy with a cold blue kit. But the insides were in great shape. I guess most police pistols are carried a lot but fired little.

It's been totally reliable for me. I've used FMJ practice ammo, and Speer Gold Dots for a carry load. Some of the early P6's (including mine) had a barrel design which didn't like some hollow point ammo. This was fixed in later models. You can find info on Sig Forum listing the hollow point brands which are OK. The Gold Dots were on the list.

The biggest problem was the double action trigger pull. It was quite stiff. I understand that the German police had a requirement to use some submachine gun ammo with hard primers, so Sig used a 24 pound hammer spring. Following some advice on SigForum, I replaced it with a 19 pound spring, which helped, without degrading reliability with any ammo I've used. The double action pull is still a little uneven.... not as smooth as my P226 or P239. There's no problem with the single action trigger.

Ok. The P6 is the German Police version of the P225. Here are a few links:

Many were reported to be carried a lot and shot little. Therefore there can be a lot of holster wear. Prices ranged from $269 to $375. The supply seems to be drying up now, especially with the gun sale boom the past few months. The older ones have a different ramp than the newer ones which might cause feeding problems with some hollow point ammunition. They all have heavy trigger pulls. Spring kits and magazines are available on line. Try Top Gun Supply.

Here are some search results from Sigforum.com

The P6 is one heck of a deal.
