It was just your standard 350 small block, until it dropped a valve. Metal doesn't compress like a gas/oxy mixture...instead it goes BOOM! and does this to your cylinder wall:

I want a 9 sec car too, but a 10 bolt rear, 4 wheel drum brakes, and 30 year old suspension wasn't going to cut it. So I'm doing it right as I can afford it. So far I've yanked the front subframe, sandblasted/repainted it, new front disks, shocks, springs, ect.
As it was:

As it is:
Now I just need money for that 9 sec motor.

hey, this isnt TEXAS HOTROD FORUM !....just kidding
to me the best part of having a hotrod is the blood sweat and tears that you invest into it..worst thing is the never ending amount of $$$ you put in to it......but happiness is priceless.

That sure is a mess...But that is half the fun, blood, sweat and tears, not to mention the $$$$ you'll have to fork over to git er dun...
Good luck...

At least I put in an extra "$", because that is what it may take to get this going again...

Oh, it will. This car won't be on the road for at least another 5 years, maybe longer. I want to do it once, do it right, and spend the rest of the time enjoying the heck out of getting to drive it.

Some of us are so into cars...
I have a few friends who are so into cars one owns fifteen, mostly Lotus, with a sprinkling of an Aston Martin and the odd Lexus.
He, me and another friend were discussing cars over fine cigars and one buddy advised he ONLY has seven cars. My Lotus owning friend looked at him for a moment and said well, you're on your way to being a collector...On his way?
Another one had an elevated building to house his collection of cars.
Such things don't really hold much interest for me. A car (or truck in my case) is an end to a means. My truck hauls my kayaks or other sporting gear and that, that I bring home from Home Depot or where ever.
I'm not a gear head.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
