Etiquette question

So this is one I'm not sure how I need to play...

A gentlemen was selling some stuff on Craigslist that I was interested in. I received an email and we agreed on a price. Based on the nature of the stuff he was selling, he had asked me if I was in the military. I let him know I used to be...He replied back saying he was just going to give me the stuff at no charge because he 'like to help out those who have served'.

Do I just accept the stuff? We're talking $75 as an agreed price, so it's nothing too extreme. Should I give him the cash and thank him for the kind offer? Do I give him anything?

These are always awkward situations for me...

Appreciate the guidance.

Better yet, if he refuses again, ask if he'd like you to donate it to a military-related charity in his name.

For "givers" to receive the blessing of giving there has to be a "receiver"

I tell our folks all the time that the first lesson God's people learn is to be good givers. That is when they give up greed & self.

2nd lesson has to be how to be a good receiver.
That is humble, not expecting it to be given, willing to pay for it, thankful for the unselfish heart trying to give.

There are the rules so now you decide if you want to be on the receiving end of God's plan for blessing or just remain on the giving end.

And I KNOW you have been on the giving end SEVERAL times.

Accept the gift. Upon receipt of the item/s, send him the check with a note to donate to his church/charity/bookie or whatever. I'll wager that you'll feel better. If he returns the check, you can donate it or whatever....

I know all about etiquette. They don't call me Mr. Manners for nothing :smilelol5:

It's more than etiquette. I think Longtooth explained it pretty well.
