"KINGSTON, Jamaica – Ships from Miami steam into Jamaica's main harbor loaded with TV sets and blue jeans. But some of the most popular U.S. imports never appear on the manifests: handguns, rifles and bullets that stoke one of the world's highest murder rates."........"This complaint — that Americans care only what comes in, not what goes out — echoes that of Mexican authorities, who say cars going from the U.S. into Mexico aren't searched for weapons or cash."......."The guns are concealed in container loads of blue plastic and cardboard barrels, the kind Jamaicans use to send household goods to their families on the island.....Some shipping companies advertise a no-questions-asked policy in soliciting customers, said Walker, the customs commissioner. He declined to single out individual companies. "

Note: Cut and pasted to highlight the highpoints...taken out of context. Pls read entire article.

It is the responsibility of the freight forwarder(shipping company) to inspect ALL goods loaded into a container, or a box, or a trailer. It's the law! It's corrupt shipping companies that are allowing this.

The volume is much less than the flow of U.S. guns into Mexico that end up in the hands of drug cartels — Jamaican authorities recover fewer than 1,000 firearms a year. But of those whose origin can be traced, 80 percent come from the U.S., Jamaican law enforcement officials have said in interviews with The Associated Press.
hmm why don't they state how many can not be traced, or how many can.
Authorities don't know how many firearms get through, but more than 12,000 guns used in crimes in Mexico last year were sent to U.S. authorities for tracing, a number that grows as more agencies in Mexico are trained to submit traces.
what does that have to do with anything, they only send guns they think came from the USA and of those <10% are traced to the USA. Why not tell us how many guns are used in crimes that come from south of the border, or from the mexican police, or how many are used in crimes in general.

Why don't these countries try to solve there own problems, by letting law abiding citizens buy, carry and use guns for self defense? seems to be working here.
This whole article is bull propaganda, but I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here.

No, and knowing Chicago politicians, it wouldn't surprise me one bit to find out that the 'bamanation types are actually getting these countries to make these statements.

You know, a little call in the night, "Hey Bruce, it's Hilly, we are going to increase our campaign to outlaw guns in the US and it would help things along if you would release an announcement something along the lines of "100% of the crime guns in our country that can be traced to the US, have been traced to the US." Remember Barrick wants some more of those cigars, and Rahm could use a little more Rum to share with Roland, and I would really like a new pants suit in that fabric you showed me last trip."

Yep.. The US General Accounting Office is now repeating the same tripe, that has already been proven a lie, also. So, you are dead on.

Mexican/Jamaican politicians are simply cooperating with anti-gun American politicians.

"You third world countries want your aid to continue? Then sound off about American guns flooding your countries and the aid will flow your way..."

It a new anti-gun tactic.

(our government isn't going to complain much, except pro forma, about foreign smuggler's drugs and people bootlegged into the U.S.)

The people bootlegged into the U.S. are votes for the present, and hopefully shortlived, administration. These folk have demonstrated over and over that they'll say or do anything for the votes.

BTW, I'm afraid that Jim Longley's scenario above may be too close to the truth to be funny.

:iagree: I'm afraid all of the scenarios posted here are very close to being true. The politicians that are in control right now will stop at nothing to get their way.
