What would be a good semi-auto tactical shotgun that is less than $600 and barrel length is <= 18 inch?

About the only semi-auto tactical shotguns I know of are the Remington 1100 Tac. 8 shot. it goes for around $700.00. Benelli has one for $1,100.
All the others are pump, and costs considerably less....like 1/2 as much.
By law, minimum shotgun length is 18", anything shorter is defined as an illegal weapon.
Sec. 46.01. DEFINITIONS. In this chapter:(10) "Short-barrel firearm" means a rifle with a barrel length of less than 16 inches or a shotgun with a barrel length of less than 18 inches, or any weapon made from a shotgun or rifle if, as altered, it has an overall length of less than 26 inches.
Sec. 46.05. PROHIBITED WEAPONS. (a) A person commits an offense if he intentionally or knowingly possesses, manufactures, transports, repairs, or sells:
(1)
.
(3)a short-barrel firearm
(e) An offense under this section is a felony of the third degree unless it is committed under Subsection (a)(5) or (a)(6), in which event, it is a Class A misdemeanor.
I left a lot of stuff out, but you get the idea. Hope that helps.
Joe

The Shotgun on the right is an 1100, with a Pistol Grip stock, Magazine Extention, smoothbore 18" Barrel with Full Choke, Side Saddle 6 Shell Carrier & Flashlight :)
It's my 'home defense special' :)

For self defense shotgun....not to my knowledge. For bird hunting, most definitely! I think 2 or 3 round mag capacity is law.
This Saiga shotgun is magazine fed, 12 + 1 capacity:

After I moved the trigger group forward and installed the pistol grip, it's never malfunctioned. But Tapco has the Intrafusion stock with pistol grip that makes it much easier to get to where mine is.

Very well, but the kick is harsh.
