In honor of the 40th anniversary of Mary Jo Kopechne's death, Obama is awarding the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Ted Kennedy.

Is this supposed to be humorous? The young woman's death was a travesty and a miscarriage of justice, IMO.

Not only her family suffers but the rest of the country is still suffering from this travesty. Kennedy should have faced capital charges, instead he is a much re-elected senator from Massayouknowwhat. Shame, shame, shame!

He's just another Liberal. he won't be around much longer, and it won't be a great loss to the country..

What a sad, sad state of affairs.

I think there is some scriptural passage about the, 'halt' leading the 'lame'? This makes me wish I hadn't had supper. Stand back everybody, I'm gonna hurl!!! :ack:

What is to become of this nation, our children and their children?

This may be the most disgusting thing I have ever read, ever anywhere.

That that guy would leave a young women to drown in his car was more than I could stomach then. To read this brings me close to tears, angry tears!

There are no emoticons appropriate for what I feel.

Still need to remember our standards on this board.

I know there are some issues that are hard to keep a clean & civil pin over but we must.
Thank you.

If what you say is the case, then I would suggest removing the thread alltogether. Theres lots of places on the web these folks can whine about Kennedy. This shouldnt be one of them and regardless of how you feel personally about the man, he is dying and a bit of human decency would go a long way IMO.

We don't remove threads just because they are controversial. As long as the thread is in the correct area, the discussion stays civil and doesn't violate the forum rules, it is allowed. Too much censoring or over-moderation will kill a forum. We moderators and our fine members work hard to keep this one open and worthwhile for all to discuss topics!

Well said :clapping:, there are moderators and then there are censors.

Poor Mary Jo could have used a bit of human decency too.

If I commit manslaughter by drunk driving off into the Brazos river and running away while my passenger drowns, can I be a Senator and get a Presidential Medal of Freedom as well?

Like or not like, he's been one of the most influential Senators in US history, which is more than any of the posters on this thread could dream of being.
