CA: Kerfuffle over newspaper photograph

The Californian, a newspaper in Salinas, California, published a photo of two boys holding an M4 rifle at a display of police weaponry on National Night Out.

Salinas, like many U.S. cities this summer, has become a virtual free-fire zone.
Outraged citizens wrote and called the paper demanding to know how they could publish a photo of children with a gun.
The paper defended its position: http://thecalifornian.com/article/20090 ... 80312/1014" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(I have to say, I find a SWAT team displaying weapons at National Night Out a little odd. In my town, the police just chat and show off the K-9s).
