The Chicago Tribune link took me to a story about the Illinois champion "cowboy shooter".

I'm
well beyond being a 17-25 y.o. male, so I guess I won't worry about predatory/lethal fifty-something women...
On a more serious note, I've seen (the results of) studies that show women are every bit as violent as men, including in initiating domestic violence. Men generally cause more damage, and are punished to a greater degree, especially when it is "unarmed combat" and the victim is a woman. When a woman gets ahold of an effective weapon, the outcomes are similar.

Sorry. Fixed it. BTW, that server is in the UK and slow, and it has no more information than what I summarized.

Amazing. I thought private citizens weren't allowed to have firearms in Ireland.

They can have non-semi-auto long guns.
The story doesn't say what kind of weapon was used, but more crimes are committed with handguns in the U.K. now than when the country had as little "gun control" as Alaska.

Eye protection required. Don't say you weren't warned.

Erm....Tell that to the IRA and the UDF! All those guns that were shipped to the IRA by NY Irish/American had to go somewhere...you don't for one minute think that they have all been turned in do you?
Talk about fighting the funding of terrorism! in 70's and 80's the USA was the biggest funder/supplier of the IRA a little fact that seems to have been lost/forgotten during the "war of terrorism".

Many misguided Irish-Americans contributed to the IRA.
The Soviet Union also supplied factions in Northern Ireland, according to reports that were never thoroughly proven. The IRA also linked up with Colombian drug gangs.
In this case, though, I suspect the "suspects" are of the home-grown criminal class.

Probably so, criminals are everywhere, that is why we carry I suppose?
Sorry if I over reacted but when you lose a good friend because of those killers it tends to leave you a little over reactive. It is a "hot button" issue for me and one I really need to try harder to not react to.
