Texas City: Homeowner stops home invasion robbery

In Texas City, Tuesday, residents of a home in the 11400 block of 30th Avenue North were awaked by robbers trying to break in. A Mr. David J. Brown fired as the robbers broke down the front door. The robbers fired shots to no effect, and fled.

This is an upscale neighborhood close to I-45 on the north side of Texas City. I'm guessing the robbers planned on a quick getaway.

There is no quick getaway on Galveston Island ... 2 roads out and 1 ferry... "rlol" (no pun intended)

Quite a few crooks have been caught trying to flee the island. It's easy for the cops to close down the causeway when traffic is light.

Maybe that's why we don't have much of this kind of thing.

Except Texas City, although in Galveston County is NOT in Galveston Island. Plenty of ways to get out of Texas City. :tiphat:

A Houston man was arrested in connection with this break-in.

Pretty persistent police work.

If there's a take-away here, I think it is that people who live in affluent neighborhoods near major highways need to be aware of this kind of threat. There's a lot of "I live in a good neighborhood" self-deception.

:iagree: That is a good point. My good neighborhood is safe because I know my neighbors. We watch, so to keep each others families safe. It is not your belongings that is important ,but your family and friends.
