Good HPD encounter

I had a fender bender tonight (other guy's fault, and - OMG - he had insurance!). I asked HPD to swing by & file a report anyway, to cover myself. Gave the officer my TXDL & CHL, and he didn't recognize the CHL. He was too old to be a rookie, but I had to explain to him what it was. Did DPS change the style of the plastic recently? Anyway, the officer didn't ask me if I had the gun on me, or where it was, or anything. So that was nice.
The other driver and I were both clean cut white guys (20s and 40s in age), and the policeman was a black guy, maybe 30s or 40s. Neither of the drivers were

, so I guess the officer figured there was nothing to worry about.

Just a side note, just because he had an apparently valid insurance card doesn't mean he had insurance.
A guy rear ended my wife's car earlier their year, appeared to have valid insurance, and when our insurance company called Geico, they said he had fallen behind on payments and it wasn't valid.

It is my understanding that they have, in fact, just updated the appearance of the CHL. Not that it matters (insert sarcasm here), because it will undoubtedly have changed again by the time they get around to issuing them......

They have changed. I just renewed and it is different from my two previous license styles.

Apparently the 'new' cards were being issued as of Sept. 2008:

They really are! They're right up there with our new third-world money.

Those look like the new drivers license/ID cards. IMO they are tough to read. They are supposed to be a bit more secure.

How about those new license plates? Makes me wish I would have voted on them when the state was taking opinions....

Kinda looks like Disney World threw up on them huh?

My trucks have Farm tags on them, they are the same old boring bland plates they've always been.. That right there is enough for me to keep them ( that and it's 20 bucks less per vehicle a yr )...

Take one each denomination of the new bills and lay them side by side.
Look at them closely, and ask yourself....
Why hasn't Milton-Bradley sued yet?
As far as the new cards go, yeah they're ugly but they do look more like the new driver licenses (which are also ugly), so they don't stand out as much. That could be a good thing in the long run.

Do you drive them to work? Remember Ag stuff church and school only! When I was in LE we used to joke when we would see one of those trucks running around downtown with some guy in business casual. We used to always chuckle and say "Where's the chickens!?"
