What is going to be interesting is to see how the talk show folks like Rush, Hannity, Beck, Levin, Savage (if he’s still around) and the rest will comment on this...

It would be very telling...

To say something gushing with disengenuous accolades, or to be even semi-critical of his term in office, is just plain dumb...

But on the other hand if we say things that are extremely critical and apparently cruel, with no respect for the dead, those might be viewed as insensitive and just plain mean...

I see this as a lose-lose proposition...

Y'all should see the comments over on Free Republic...Whew...Better bring a pitcher of ice tea...

At least he didn't get the law in Mass. changed back to allowing the governor to appoint a Senator to a missing seat.

If you don't know, Kennedy was instrumental in getting the law changed when Kerry was running for President and Romney was governor. Democrats in Mass. took away the power of the governor to appoint a Senator to a missing Senate seat, afraid that if Kerry won, Romney would appoint a Republican Senator to replace him.

In the last few weeks, as Kennedy's health was failing, he was lobbying to reinstate that power to the Governor since Mass. now has a Democrat governor.

Hypocrisy of the highest order, if you ask me, and further proof that the Democrat party is concerned with one thing and one thing only - power, consolidation of power, and the keeping of power once they have it.

OK, that's three things.

He's had to atone for his deeds, God rest Mary Jo Kopechne. How he could keep getting elected is beyond me. I truly believe these power hungry folks are shocked when they die, believing all along that they are immortal and that this life is all there is or ever was. Sad.

I am sorry for his family's loss. Our nation's gain - - - well that's a whole 'nother story.

Keep it civil guys. No matter how you feel about his politics or lifestyle, you will discuss it in a business like manner.

The constant re-election of these various nefarious scoundrels is most troublesome to me. Maybe we aren't capable of governing ourselves afterall?

A number of our fore-fathers would agree most heartily with that assessment.

Ted Kennedy beat a negligent manslaughter rap as a junior Congressman and went on to become one of the most prominent U.S. Senators of his time, indeed, in the history of America. No wonder the state of affairs today.

Well, I hope this is civil enough. Having lost a spouse to brain cancer I have often said that I wouldn't wish that fate on anyone, but in Kennedy's case I'll make an exception.

I spent some of my teen summers living on Cape Cod, just up the coast from the Hyannis Kennedy compound, and have been to Martha's Vinyard and Chappaquiddick a few times and there is no way his account of driving off the bridge was the truth.

My opinion of what happened is not suitable for this forum.

I noted President Obama's statement that he was "the greatest Senator of our time". I mentally amended that to "the greatest liberal Senator of our time". This then led me to wonder, who would conservative's nominate as their "greatest"?

I would never wish it on anyone, or any disease for that matter, it's not my place. I apologize if my earlier post offended anyone.
