Constitutional Scholars, Lawyers??? Anyone???

Y'all are going to love this...Be advised, this clip may dissappear, but then again, would that surprise anyone...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tftc_UMEZKQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Can a congressman bar signs, or certain types of signs, from an event at which he’s speaking??? The answer (and the ambiguity) turns, I assume, on whether the event is “public” or “private.” It’s a public school and Moran is very much a public official...

That makes me think either there’s some sort of public/private wrinkle to these meetings that we’re missing or that banning signs is valid as a “time, place, or manner” restriction on certain forms of speech...

Be careful all you right to free speechers out there...There are some even in our midst who will say you have a right to free speech, only to a "certain" point...And this is not a case of yelling "fire" in a crowded theater either...

Looks to my like this guy is outside the meeting anyway, so how is this offending the sensibilities of anyone inside??? The police officer Mr. Cheeks seems to have run aground and can't get his penal code straight on what offense he can charge this retched citizen with...Trespassing??? Puleeeze!!!

To which I have a realy funny, yet TexasCHLForum decorum and rule violating source for hypocracy ready to send you only via an email...I will not violate that rule in this place, ever...

I'd have put the sign right back up and looked Storptrooper Cheeks dead in the eye and dared him to make good on his threats.

I can't decide whether "the quote" in that clip makes me sick or just makes my blood boil.

I would like the signholder to show a picture of the sign he was carrying before I make a comment. I have seen lots of signs that some could consider "offensive" at different rallies on TV, yet they are perfectly legal. This gentleman should take his sign and the video to the officer's commanding officer and request that the possible "violation(s)" be specifically outlined, then consider suing for violation of the first amendment. The other gentleman that was commenting on how the first amendment applies differently on school property needs to go back to school himself. This was obviously not a school function but a political gathering.

Kudos to the sign holder for getting it on camera!

Lonewolf. It shows you the sign right at the start of the video.

I suspect that what the issue is here (and IINAL) is the evil clown picture because of what the Waffen SS officer says.

Does it become libel if there is a picture on it or something?

I sent a nice email to ALL the members of that areas school board expressing a genuine concern about this employees actions and threats...

One members email bounced back that they were out of the country...Good timing there knucklehead...

I'm sure that they are catching a lot of heat for this...

I would summize we all keep the temperature up till we see what comes of this...

Just be advised...If you pick up the gauntlet, be prepared for the ride...

Apparently this sign holder was not prepared...

Thats why we need a lawyer to chime in...

In this case it seems "libel" or "slander" is not an arrestable offense...I think you can be cited for it, and then have to get your day in court, but I am sure to be corrected on that...

I guarantee if the races were reversed there would be screams of outrage on the front page, displacing even the hero worship of the dead Kennedy, with NAACP and bam-bam pronouncing it stupid.

Ok. Well, I blame it on the bifocals myself. After all it's easy to do when you get up there in years, and have to use bifocals to read with, and from far away everything seems blurry.

(there. Dont' worry lonewolf, I'm looking out for ya! )

This will only backfire. Watching this video makes me want to get a bunch of those evil clown photos and stick them up on every telephone pole in our county.

I think those Obama clown photos are in poor taste myself, but living in a free country means you need to protect the rights of people doing things you may not agree with.

The poster clowns are less offensive than the clowns in Washington.

:clapping:

Let's try to make the evil clown Obama posters more popular than OBEY''s Obama posters.
