Cornyn and KBH On Czar Appointments

Last month, I sent letters to John Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutchinson, expressing my concerns over the prolific appointments of czars in the Obama administration, and the constitutionality of those appointments without Senate approval. I also mentioned my concern over the extreme radical ideology and associations of many of those czars. I specifically listed Van Jones, Cass Sunstein, Ken Feinberg, John Holdren and Mark Lloyd.
I’m not sure what I expected in response…maybe a simple form letter that talked about how they shared the same concerns and are devoted to defending the constitution, etc.
Well, what I got in return was quite a surprise. KBH didn’t send a form letter, but a personalized response that appears to have been worded to calm my anxieties about these appointments. Most of it was rhetoric on how she and her colleagues are keeping a close eye on what’s going on, but here was the kicker sentence that threw me for a loop…
She wrote “I know President Obama and his staff work diligently to ensure that each appointee has the best credentials and experience to efficiently manage his or her job responsibilities”.
WHAT? Did KBH really mean that? Best credentials and experience?
Well, I know she has her eye set on the Governor’s mansion in Austin, but with opinions like that, she just needs to fade away into the abyss.
Cornyn responded with a form letter that talked about the economy, border security and 2A rights. I’m glad those issues are high on his priority list, but I’d really like to know his opinion on the czar question. I guess I’m not gonna get it.

Nope.
She was the TX State Treasurer from 1990-1993, at which time she replaced Lloyd Bentsen in the Senate.
Perhaps you are thinking of Carol Keaton-Rylander-McLellan-Strayhorn-One-Tough-Grandma. She can almost out-Texas-accent Rick Perry and KBH combined.

No, you are correct. I was confusing Comptroller with Treasurer.

Cornyn blocked the Sunstein nomination, withdrew it when no one supported him on it (meaning US!), and now is fighting the nomination with the write-in campaign to eliminate Sunstein from consideration.

Thanks pdubyoo for the heads up. I have been lurking here since the election of obama which kicked me in the pants to arm myself and obtain my chl. This administration and their threat to our liberties is real and scary. I urge all of you to make your voice heard. The left has been making noise, even if we were ignoring them, for years. Its time for us to drown them out with our own noise. Our freedoms are at stake.
I sent this letter to KBH and I urge all of you to take the time to do the same.
Dear Senator Hutchison,
I read on a forum today that you stated in a response to someone the following:
"I know President Obama and his staff work diligently to ensure that each appointee has the best credentials and experience to efficiently manage his or her job responsibilities”.
Is this true? Surely not because it is obvious this is not the case.
Understand that the conservative citizens of Texas have, through the unfortunate election of Obama, been reminded that elections do have real and lasting consequences and we will do everything in our power to make sure such a mistake is not repeated.
I urge you and any other Republican/Conservative elected official or future candidate with any aspirations of being elected/re-elected to any office such as the US Senate or Governor to discontinue the polite rhetoric concerning the Obama presidency and his administrations threat to our rights, freedom and liberty. Say things as you see them and as they are without any sugar coating. We will vote accordingly.
A direct response stating your stance on this issue is requested. Please do not respond with a form letter.
Sincerely,b]

No Bama Man, I sent you a PM with the full letter text from KBH. She lost any chance for my vote...for anything...except retirement and obscurity.

I was once a KBH fan, but that went away when I watched her tepid responses to this government. Cornyn seems to be fighting the good fight all by himself.
And I've gotten personal responses from Cornyn.
i'm cure not going to support her for Governor. I'm with Medina on that score. I sure hope she has a chance.

I just got a response from Kay Grainger on another matter. Looks like a personal response, at least in part:
"I am sorry that you think Republicans are not being vocal enough in their opposition to various legislative proposals. I have been very clear in my opposition to several bills, such as the economic "stimulus." and the cap and trade bill. Unfortunately, because Republicans are not in control of Congress, it is difficult to get equal media coverage. However, you can be sure I will continue to advocate for and communicate about substantive, conservative legislation. "
However, her decision to hold a town hall meeting via teleconference was a major put-off.
She had a golden opportunity to stand with conservatives and speak out, and she hid behind a telephone.
I wrote her about that too.
