The Truth About "Mayors Against Illegal Guns"

Just received an alert email from NRA-ILA. Very interesting read and a fun one because it displays how the anti-2A rights groups best laid plans are unraveling right before their eyes. I especially liked the link of over 40 mayors have resigned after hearing from their constituents.
...." In her letter of resignation, Mayor Patricia Shontz (R) of Madeira Beach, Florida wrote, “I am withdrawing because I believe the MAIG is attempting to erode all gun ownership, not just illegal guns. Additionally, I have learned that the MAIG may be working on issues which conflict with legal gun ownership.” She goes on to add, “It appears the MAIG has misrepresented itself to the Mayors of America and its citizens. This is gun control, not crime prevention.” "

Not a single mayor in TX is a member.
I'm so proud.

Although map doesn't show; in the list of members I found:
Texas:
Mayor Will Wynn
Austin, TX
Mayor Richard Ward
Hurst, TX
FWIW...hmmm

Yes, but did you read the list of mayors that have resigned? At the bottom of the page:
Convictions of Current and Former MAIG Members
Will Wynn – Austin, Texas (

Well Dave I may have to eat my words, because I don't know for a fact that he has resigned. But I found a contradiction that left me a little confused.
There is a map of the U.S. there somewhere that has little flags where the mayor live that are members of MAIG. And Texas is empty of those little flags. On the other hand there's a link to some sort of ad that lists all members, and the mayors of Austin & Euless are on there. So I don't know which is correct. But since I liked the map version, I went with that one.

Will Wynn is no longer the mayor so he probably doesn't count anymore.
Looks like the person is signed up, not the city itself.

Will Wynn is thankfully no longer mayor. Not that Leffingwell is that much better, but at least he's a former military man and not a tree-hugging wannabe San Franciscan who enjoys placing the "rights" of the city above those of property owners. His original "energy conservation" plan for Austin residential real estate was the most oppressive proposed public takeover of homeowner property rights I've ever heard.

Leffingwell...that's the ticket!
