Good grief! Congrats dic621!! That's amazing. You're about the 4 person who either was approved or received license in hand in that time frame!

I have some questions. With so many people waiting for so long, I wonder if your application contained *fewer* points of "problems" - in other words a clean application.
0) How many arrests did you list? (My guess is zero - I had to list two minor things from almost 25 and 30 years ago)
1) How many addresses did you have to list? (My guess is just one - I only had one)
2) How many employers did you have to list? (My guess is just one - I had three and one of them is out of business)
3) What county do you live in? (I bet your current county of residence is more cooperative where background checks are concerned - I've heard Bexar County isn't that great in that regard, as they originally bucked the MPA until that law was strengthened)
I think with fewer entries on the application (and zero arrests), it takes less time for DPS to do the check. Everyone that has been waiting for longer than 60 days may have had multiple addresses and/or a number of employers in multiple counties/states, and maybe multiple arrests from multiple agencies that all had to be verified. I'm sure that red flags are raised when there are several addresses and/or job listings, especially if that number is higher than average. Add to that the rejected fingerprints and/or pictures, and that might be some of the reason some applications are taking so long. Finally, background checks are most likely very low priority for most agencies, so requests to the various agencies may be stacking up at those agencies.
I expect I won't see my application until around Christmas (it *should* be at/before Thanksgiving if they meet their own 60-day promise).
In any case, 48 days has to be a record. Congrats.

I am not DLC, but here are my answers. BTW, DPS got my package on Aug 5 and I went "license issued" on Sept 8. I got it on the 15th.
Only one address.
No arrests.
Two employers in two different counties - Dallas and Denton.
Denton County.
BTW, I am currently self-employed but you could not tell it from the company name. No one from DPS ever contacted me to verify employment.

Wow - 34 days! Maybe they just cleared the log jam, and I think I heard they're starting to do background checks electronically. Maybe there's hope that I could see mine by the end of October.

Well, this is kind of exciting me as mine was received by DPS on the same day.
I'm similar. No arrests, one address, one job, military service, brush and floss every night.
Maybe mine will change from "In process" to something better soon.
