Anyone have a Remington pump action .223 rifle? I ran across the Remington Model 7615 Tactical and Ranch Carbine on the internet and thought they were somewhat interesting. Haven't seen one in person but thought that perhaps someone had one and could comment on it?

Would just be another range gun for me, something different.

I've seen those on the Remington website before, and I confess that I was curious what niche they were trying to fill. The MSRP is listed on the site as $932.00 — or roughly the price of a low end AR15 patrol carbine. At that price, why not just get the AR?

I have AR15s and other variations. And despite what MSRP is, I can get a NIB 7615 Tactical for $550 + shipping. As I said, just a different platform that might be fun at the range and it uses the same AR15 mags I already have. As long as I can afford it I like to have somewhat of a variety. I get bored with just a few range guns to choose from. I just wanted to find if there were any issues with it (i.e. jamomatic, etc.). Haven't read anything bad about it's performance but then again, I can't find much info on it. One reviewer indicated that the "reach" of the pump action was problematic to him.

I hope to find one at the next gun show so I can handle it in person.

Aaaaahhh. Understand about the variety aspect. In any case, I haven't heard anything about them. I think I might have seen one, come to think of it, at the last Ft Worth gun show a few weeks ago, but other than that, I don't really know anything about their performance and reliability.

I've got a buddy with one of those 7600-series pump guns. His is in .223 as well, and he sure does like it.

Not something I'd ever be interested in buying, but different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to Dallas Market Hall gunshow this weekend and will try to find one to look at. Probably wouldn't buy it there unless the price comes close to the one I found for $550. But I may hate the feel of the rifle, who knows (sure would save me some money if I DID hate it). :D

IF memory serves (and it may not), the theory behind the 7615 was that it would fit with LE agencies that did not authorize the AR platform. Other than being AR-15 magazine fed, the 7615 functions very similarly to an 870. The 7615 could provide agencies with 5.56/.223 capabilities from a pump-action platform that most officers would be familiar with, assuming that they were already carrying 870s.
