Trying to decide between the two.

Which one will I get the most use out of.

looking for home defense and something I can maybe skeet shoot with. I've been told you can skeet shoot with the coach gun.

Not so sure.

Need some feedback.

Finding 20 ga is tough everything available is 12's.

I was talking with some friends recently about shotguns and thought of suggesting a 20 gauge pump for them. After doing some research and finding out how limited the options are, I'm thinking of suggesting they go with a 12 gauge with low recoil shells.

I have a Mossberg 500 that I've been very happy with, but don't have any experience with Stoegers. The Mossberg allows you to easily change barrels from a 18.5 for home defense, to 24" rifles, to a 26" or 28" smoothbore.

Wound up getting a Remington 870 12ga. with 18.5" barrel last weekend at the Reliant show in Houston.

Has a what I believe to be new camo pattern call Tiger Stripe.

Was there with a clse friend and her said I can as I've learned switch components pretty easy with it.

Shot it last night kicks pretty good.

An excellent choice. I have 3 870's myself and love how easy it is to change barrels. My 12ga. goes from home defender to skeet shooter in about a minute. Also, if you are interested, the 870 has many accessories available. You made a great choice. (in my opinion)

My 870 is a pump.

I want to take up skeet shooting. I have a Browning 20ga. from my Dad.

I'm in Friendswood. Where do you shoot skeet? I've thought about Bailey's just to try it out then maybe join PSC.

I have in-laws (well almost, I'm engaged) in Friendswood, and I go down there occasionally. If I'm down that way, I shoot skeet at the Texas City Municipal range. It's a bit of a drive, but far and away the nicest skeet range I'm aware of anywhere near you. It really is top notch, and cheap, to boot. I believe it's $7/round including clays. You get an attendant who mans the controls via remote, runs the game, and will give you advice on your shots if you want. Friendly folks and a really great experience for new shooters.

As for Bailey's, I'd never send anyone there. I wrote a review on the place a while back, if you want to read about it. My experiences were less than pleasant:

The shotgunning sports really are a lot of fun, and useful as well. I've applied the skills I learned there to bird and deer hunting with great success.

Yeah I've heard pretty negative things about Baily's as well. Can't really knock it though. Safety is of the utmost importance when it comes to shooting. Just sounds like they take it to the extreme.
