Self Defense Shotgun Storage for Quick Access

Went to the big show at Reliant stadium in Houston today and came home with a really nice Remington 870 12 ga. 18.5" barrel shotgun. It's the new tiger stripe camo pattern.

Question is: How can I store it for quick access?

I'm considering locations in my closet. Above the door jam is to high.

I'm now thinking just behind and above my clothes line.

I want it out of site but readily available.

Opinions on best way to handle will be appreciated.

I'm interested, could you post a picture or post the brand/model of the safe?

Thanks,

You could just build a little wood rack to hold it either virticle or horazontal and mount it to your wall behind your cloths. You could use a small bungi cord to secure it but just make to where it comes loose when you PULL on the gun

here's what mine looks like but it was given to me years ago and after a quick search i can't find any on-line .
i'm sure there must be something equivalent out there .
its really more of a locking cabinet than a safe .
but it will keep a firearm out of reach of children yet provide quick access when needed .

If you just want to conceal it, you can mount a bracket on the wall behind your clothes.

You can also drill some holes for a cable lock to protect the gun from smash and grab burglars when you're out of the house. If you want more security you should have a safe bolted to the floor or wall, because if the burglars have time they can roll out a loose safe and open it later.

Yeah I went ahead and placed it behind my hanging clothes.

Think I'm going to put a locking door knob on the closet door for now.

Need to eventually get a safe.

A&M college tuition is ruling my life right now.

How about something like the Mossberg Loc-Box? It mounts to the wall, and is supposed to be easy to open in the event of need, but prevents unauthorized access. It isn't available right now directly from Mossberg, but I've found a whole lot of other sights listing it as available...

You can check it out in the Accessories --> Firearm Safety and Security section of Mossberg's site.

A couple of good ideas. I like the mossberg lock option.

You could mount it to the back of the closet door or on a series of hooks mounted to the underside or inside of the bed frame. With a bed skirt it would be out of site until you need it. Even without a bed skirt if its mounted on the inside of the bed frame.
