Galveston: Home invasion robbery stopped
Posted: Tue Oct 13, 2009 9:20 am
In Galveston, Saturday, a woman living on Weber Street opened the door to a knock and was confronted by two men. She screamed. Her boyfriend, who was asleep, retrieved a 9 mm pistol and shot one of the intruders.
The intruders fled. One of them shot at the house while fleeing and hit the boyfriend in the leg. The extent of his injury is not reported.
Police tracked down the suspect in Santa Fe and charged him with burglary and possession of a firearm by a felon. A police dive team recovered the weapon from Hall's Bayou.

Weber Street is a short, obscure dead-end street north of Kroger (for those who know the area). I could not have told you where it is before looking it up. I can't imagine why someone from Santa Fe would go there, unless they were looking for a specific target.
This was some good police work, and a lot of details that would be interesting are left out of the newspaper story.
