To me, its going to the range. Went right after work today, shot the PT145 and put another 100 rounds through the Rock Island 1911. That's 200 total in the 1911, with 3 ftfs in the first 50 rounds. After that this gun has been perfect! (Minus the GI sights....those things in an indoor range are impossible to see). After an error free 100 rounds today I feel comfortable enough to begin carrying it, and celebrated that fact by picking up a Galco OWB for it and 2 spare Wilson Combat 8 rounders....thank goodness a cold front blew through today, I can throw a hoodie on and be alright as far as concealment goes.

After my trip to the range, I went home and cleaned both guns thoroughly. Happiness is the smell of Hoppes #9 and a clean gun(or two). Reloaded both pistols and stored them. It only takes me 2 shy of a full box of 50 to fill both guns and 3 spare mags unfortunately. Looks like I need to go buy some more .45 ammo!

Now that I got the weekend kicked off right, its probably time to grill out tomorrow if its not too cold. Maybe I'll finally go see Zombieland tonight..I've heard good things.

So who started off a better weekend than I did?

It's amazing how it really does! I thought I was having fun on the range until I had my 1911 all cleaned up and my PT145 in pieces while I was cleaning. I don't know how that's more fun than punching paper, but it was!

last Sunday after my range session i spent way longer than i ever have before doing some deep cleaning on my guns .
i got in all the nooks and cranny's . made them look factory fresh .

Oh no buddy! That's half of the mystique! Make it moments to savor. You get a feeling of accomplishment by going to the range, and keeping your hard earned skills honed, then you go home to savor the recent memories of that range shoot by carefully cleaning your gun(that you spent a lot of money on), to keep it in good working order to be able to use it someday to, God forbid, defend your life with it.

It is to be savored, cherished, remembered and revered.

You're grilling out? Where and when? I went to the range for the first time in a month yesterday afternoon, still driving nails . The Hoppes #9 comment made me laugh, very true. Zombieland is pretty good, went to see Law Abiding Citizen tonight, very suspenseful and eye popping.

I like spending quality time with my piece too.


If they ever get around to making man candles, Hoppes #9 will have to be one of the scents.

uhhhh.....I don't want to be off color, but since I grew up out in the country, could we add to the palette of scents skunk and cow manure? Toned down of course.
