Unfortunately the good guy in this gunfight lost his life.

It seems that the clerk should have had the advantage since he opened
fire as the robber was leaving. No word on what kind of weapons were
used during the encounter.

What was not stated in this story (I read it elsewhere) is that the good guy
did hit the bad guy in the thigh with at least one shot.

The bad guys had moved a bed to the storage unit to hide out.

When the cops arrested them, the thigh wound had not been treated properly
and the bad guy's health was going downhill.

Here's the Dallas Morning Snooze's version.

Dear Lord, I pray for the soul of Kim Hang Lay, who was trying to do the right thing. He was fighting back. There is no higher aspiration than to do that. I am saddened because he did not shoot effectively. Why? It would not have taken that much practice to become proficient enough to stop the threat at such a close range. No matter what size gun he had.
