What a nice day we are having here in the Hill Country. So the girls ask we go eat lunch at the La Contera Mall north of San Antonio...I was wearing shorts....so I just stuck my Kel Tec .32 ACP in my pocket and away we went.
From my Glock .45 to a .32....Lordy I felt "inadequate" :)

don't feel bad , i have been known to only pack my .380 once or twice .
but i try to make it a priority to take the big gun too .

Definitely better than nothing, and let no one dissuade you. Your choice, your right. I freely admit the Beretta can get heavy, and is not always the easiest to conceal.

You know, while we all can understand that 230 grains of .45 caliber ammo is more effective (from a physics standpoint), than 60 grains of .32 ammo. But, both are capable of a kill.

Far too many are thinking thier .45 will hit a man and knock him backwards out of a plate glass window so he falls 40 stories to his death on top of his on BMW parked below.

Yep, mousegun it may be, but it's concealable, and with proper shot placement, it's effective.

Sure, we all know the firepower we'd all like to carry on our hips, but life doesn't always allow that. I mean, we'd all rather just carry around a good coach gun with us, now wouldn't we?

During the summer(shorts & T-shirt) its usually .380 time for me, but when the jeans and hoodie come out its SW99 Compact time, even the Glock 22 occasionly.

Still waiting on my CHL but already planning on adding an LCP, Kel-Tec P3AT or Kel-Tec .32 ACP and a wallet or pocket holster to the armory for shorts and T-shirt season. Might even be picking one up for my wife who has recently informed me that she wants to start shooting and get her CHL when she's ready. You got to carry what you can when you can and you're right, it's better than nothing.

The Vistro in Nordstroms.....man the guy that plays the piano all day in Nordstroms...I bet he is tired of banging out old Beatles tunes by the time he gets home....talk about a job that sux....

Unfortunately, the "concealed" part of concealed carry can force us to make some tough choices. Personally, I think the smaller calibers get a bad wrap. They can be very effective and while they are not a good choice for police or military, they are excellent self-defense choices in my opinion. Winter is on it's way, and the ability to comfortably wear a jacket will open up a lot of carry options.

You mean my .45s won't do that? ...even on the 40th floor?

FWIW, I found it no trouble to pack either a 1911 or USP Compact IWB with shorts and a loose fitting shirt during the summer. That said, on rare occasion, my 642 was the "grab and go" gun. But for the most part, carrying enough gun is not that difficult. It's more a matter of whether or not you think it is worth it to do so.

The LCP is the best choice of the 3 by far, mine has never jammed, misfired, or FTFed after 600+ rounds. I would highly suggest against it for your wife unless she is experienced and has no problem with very heavy recoil. The lack of a handle and 9 oz weight means a much heavier kick than most bigger caliber handguns, and it's hard to shoot straight; it's designed for hiding, not shooting at 15 yards. My wife chose a Bersa Thunder back in February for her first gun and carries it every day. It's a 7+1 .380, dead reliable, extremely accurate (we both qualified for our CHL with it), and kicks like a water pistol.

I just can't accept that a JHP out of a .380 will cause the bad guy to yell, "That all you got?". Sure I'm saving up for that S & W Sig .40, but my pattern has been LCP for me, Bersa for the Missus, and a Taurus .22 for both of us to plink with. Maybe I'm naive, but I think my .22 would have a reasonable chance of solving my problem if that is all I had to work with.

I wish I could say the same. When i go to the range I customarily pull my carry pistol and empty the mag into the target first thing.
Three times in a row it has failed to fire. This last time it FTE'd on round 3.

I'm thinking that it needs more break-in, so that's the plan.
But none of my Keltecs have failed, and all have lower round counts.
I probably should be carrying the Keltecs.

I do agree on the Bersa. Rock solid. I just could not get used to the DA/SA transition.
I would double-tap on the first 2 rounds every time if I started from double-action. That SA trigger was so light that round #2 followed #1 almost immediately, and was not well-aimed. I tried two of them, a year apart, decided they weren't for me.

Now all my pocket pistols are either SAO or DAO.
