No Injures Reported In Armed Carjacking

GALVESTON — Police are seeking four men accused of an armed carjacking, authorities said.

Raul Bailon told police he was sitting in his car with a friend in the 5300 block of Avenue P 1/2 at 12:11 a.m. Monday when four teenagers approached.

One pulled a pistol and demanded money, Galveston police said.

Bailon was robbed of cash and his keys. The teens fled in a 2006 Toyota Camry with Texas license plate 631XKT, police said.

I wasn't there, but I sure would not sit still for four "teens" approaching my vehicle after midnight.

That neighborhood is not exactly a cesspool of villainy. Just goes to show, it can happen here.

Another story on the page that I linked to is interesting: Two passengers returning from a cruise were arrested on outstanding warrants. Apparently Customs and Border Protection checks for warrants on people entering the country (cruises are generally foreign travel).

GALVESTON — Four men who were feigning to be in need of a ride held up a 34-year-old island resident with a shotgun and stole his truck, Galveston police said.

[The victim] was in the 700 block of Winnie about 9:20 p.m. when he was flagged down by four or five men, [a police spokesman] said. One pulled a shotgun and told [the victim] to get out of his red 2000 Chevy S10, police said.

The men drove off without injuring [the victim]...

[The victim] said Thursday the incident serves as a reminder that not everyone who appears to be in need has honest intentions.

Police found the truck about six hours later.

NO WAY am I going to stop for one or more men who flag me down in that part of town at that time of evening.

This is an usual trend for the island. I'm hoping it's just a statistical blip.
