Finally emailed my Rep.

Finally emailed my state rep. DPS has been no help, and will not even answer straightforward simple questions after 100+ days while others get processed in as little as 30. Looks like i'm going to call the money a loss and go to a FL non-res CHL. Will probably open carry my AR everywhere until such time. At first I really thought they were just busy, but when others are getting their CHLs so quickly and I am not even worth a dignified response.... well... *$^%!

Good for you, it seemed to help me...I think... Hopefully they will at least be able to tell you where it's stuck in the system. I know what you mean about DPS not being willing or able to answer simple questions.....Maybe it's just the DPS way of testing a future CHL holder's patience??

maybe... fortunately my attitude, demeanor, and patience have nothing to do with it since we are a SHALL ISSUE state. I've been nice to them up until this point, but I don't have to be, nor will I continue to be. They are breaking the law, I am not. I will have no more patience or sympathy. If they were really swamped then you wouldn't have one person taking 30 days and another 6 months.
edit: also emailed dps and told them I contacted my Rep. since nobody at DPS would even talk to me about the hold up. I'm sure I'll never get it now

finally told me something other than "waiting for background"
now i'm "forwarded to a technician" whatever that means. Are they the ones with the big "approved" rubber stamp?

No a technician is a problem solver. If the app processor finds an issue they send it to the technician to clarify/resolve.
Things like fingerprints/photos/omission etc.

gotcha. I have a class B traffic misd. from >5 years ago that I provided full documentation for. Guess they need an official to review it then? At least I have some idea whats going on.

Probably. I had all kinds of "issues" with photos', DD214 etc through the process.
Just stay the course....keep responding to their request....it will come.

I deal with several occupational lisencing departments in Austin and it is similar to this nonsense. I tell people to call and ask what's the story when time passes and no word is coming. Half the time its in the wrong pile or something equally substitutute-for-profanity.
