The lunatic shooter at Fort Hood reportedly used an FN 57 pistol that he bought legally. The antis call this a "cop killer."

The Bradys and their ilk have demonized this pistol for years:

The English equivalent of 5.7 mm is .224 caliber. This bullet has a whole lot more powder behind it than a .22 LR, , but it is hardly an artillery round. Many common self-defense cartridges (9 mm and .45 ACP) have more muzzle energy.

If this weapon and cartridge disappeared from the face of the earth, the old, reliable sawed-off shotgun would remain far more effective for criminals with no regard for the law.
