There is an excellent article today on the Fox News Web site by John Lott-
http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2009/11/ ... free-zone/#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
He talks about "Gun Free Zones" etc. It is worth reading.

Great article.
We need more in the media like him to spread the word about the absurdity of these so called "gun free" zones.

Interesting and actually somewhat informative article. I was never aware of the restrictions instituted by President Clinton back in 1993. Why? Bases have been practicing that since I first enlisted in 1976. Who knows how long before that?
It didn't sway my opinion.

Pretty much the same when I was in in the 60s.

A good article indeed!
Why is it so hard to see the thruth and wisdom in Lott's statements?

Laws define punishment.
They don't control behavior. They often influence the choice a person makes but they don't force a choice to be made.

"All the multiple victim public shootings in the U.S. -- in which more than three people have been killed -- have all occurred in places where concealed handguns have been banned."
Ouch, that has to hurt the anti's. Of course, there's such a blatant denial of logic and facts in DC these days, this likely won't even raise an eyebrow.

I tried to copy/paste that same statement, but when I tried I didn't have a "copy" option available. How'd you do that pdubyoo, or anyone? (I use Firefox as a browser if that matters)

Hmmm?

This is indeed a very astute statement.

Excellent article. When I read the following quote:
All the multiple victim public shootings in the U.S. -- in which more than three people have been killed -- have all occurred in places where concealed handguns have been banned.
I thought "What about Luby's in Killeen?" Then I realized that the entire State of Texas was basically a gun free zone back then.

Exactly! Same with the UT Tower Sniper, but at least back then good ol' Texas boys kept their deer rifles in their pick up trucks around town. Multiple citizens fired shots forcing Whitman to duck for cover in the Tower and allowing police time to run across the street and start up the stair case.
