South Africa: Crime and monkey business

South Africa has some of the highest rates of violent crime in the world. As if human criminals weren't enough of a problem, organized troupes of baboons in the Cape Town area have learned to open vehicles and search them for food, often trashing the owners' inedible possessions. Sometimes they enter occupied vehicles through open windows.

(I know that baboons are not monkeys.)

I like this caption of a photo in the article:
A baboon called Fred, back ground, sits inside a car with a baboon called Michael Jackson, left, as he eats at Cape Point on the outskirts of Cape Town, South Africa, Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009. The baboons were named local officials who are supposed to prevent baboons from entering houses and cars.
