Not a bright guy... wonder why they called the AP rounds an illegal weapon?SigMan wrote:Looks like someone needs a refresher course

The ammo in the AR-15 were probably standard FMJ rounds. As most of us know, virtually any centerfire rifle ammunition is capable of piercing soft body armor. Remember, one man's deer rifle is Sarah Brady's "high powered sniper rifle firing armor-piercing bulletes capable of punching through a bulletproof vest a mile away."Sec. 46.01. DEFINITIONS. In this chapter:
(12) "Armor-piercing ammunition" means handgun ammunition that is designed primarily for the purpose of penetrating metal or body armor and to be used principally in pistols and revolvers.
Wisely these attempts have gone nowhere.Another rifle caliber, the 30.30 caliber,
was responsible for penetrating
three officers’ armor and killing them
in 1993, 1996, and 2002. This ammunition
is also capable of puncturing light-armored
vehicles, ballistic or armored
glass, armored limousines, even a 600-
pound safe with 600 pounds of safe
armor plating.
It is outrageous and unconscionable
that such ammunition continues to be
sold in the United States of America.

Of course if he chased down the kids with a rifle and threatened them at gunpoint that's definitely illegal. BUT that doesn't make the rifle or the ammo a prohibited weapon.
So, what's the prohibited weapon? I can't seem to find that in the article anywhere....charged with aggravated assault and possession of a prohibited weapon...
Any bets that the ammo was plain ol' M855?...a magazine fully loaded with armor-piercing bullets, the possession of which is illegal, the affidavit said.
