I have seen holster at previous gun shows that strap to the bottom pad of a car seat and tuck the pistol under the front edge of the seat. However, I can't find any dealers that sell this type of rig. Does anyone know where I can get a holster like this?

Knowing me I would just jerry-rig it with an old holster I find and some rope/velcro/duct tape.

After a bit more research I've found that almost any serious comfortable options are DIY, I might start one myself for long trips.

I have a similar seatbelt holster. Mine is a DeSantis "Jamaican", so named
because Jamaican taxi drivers use them. I am a little disappointed with mine,
although I still have it on my driver's seat and use it to store my pistola when
I go into the post office or a 30.06 site. A towel covers it completely when needed.

I find that the belt doesn't want to stay tight all the time for one thing.
But the more problematical issue is that the holster is close to the front bar
on my driver's seat. This bar moves the seat front and back on its track and
sometimes when I am trying to adjust the holster, I have drastically moved
the seat while driving - not recommended for peace of mind and good driving!!

You might be just as well off to use a belt of your choosing and rig a holster onto it.

Keep in mind that (IMHO) you should be able to draw (from your vehicle mounted holster) from a normal seated position. The last thing you need is to take your eyes off the road while reaching down under the seat. I'm height challanged so I have to worry about these things

Of course some other variables are making sure the gun remains concealed yet holstered and accessible in the event of a crash.

Even if it's not a roll-over or side impact unsecured stuff can wind up on the complete opposite side of the vehicle. Not very helpfull if you have a crash and your gun winds in the back seat!
