Forgotten History: The 1920 Wall Street bombing

On September 16, 1920, a large bomb planted in a horse-drawn wagon exploded on Wall Street in New York City. It killed 38 people and severely injured hundreds. It was the deadliest terrorist incident in the U.S. until the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 (not counting the Bath school massacre).

The apparent target was the Morgan Bank. The bank building was damaged, but most of the human victims were ordinary workers.

No suspects were ever identified. No one claimed to have carried out the operation. An Italian anarchist alluded to involvement years later.

This was a time when many "-ists" committed acts of violence.

The incident receded into forgotten history.

What an interesting post Jim! Thanks! :tiphat: I have never heard of this incident.

As I was reading the article, I was thinking to myself 'this sounds a lot like the reprisals the Columbian drug cartel was carrying out in Medellin back in the 90's'.

Mass killings, rape and mayhem are not new atrocities limited to any specific ethnic or religious group in any particular region.

U.S. history is replete with such dastardly deeds as this bombing, beginning with the earliest settlers' treatment of the native Americans through slavery, the westward expansion, Prohibition, the civil rights movement, abortion clinic bombings, etc., etc. on to this day.

Keep your eyes peeled, there is no end.

But the Buddha said suffering is caused by refusing to accept impermanence.
Karma= what goes around comes around.
Ecc 1:9 What has been done will be done again.
I've got a headache now.
