Anyone watch FELON (the movie)?

Wife rented it the other night, I started watching about half-way in. Other than language, and gratuitous violence (hey, it's a prison film, what do you expect?) it was a good flick. The setting is California, the gist of it is that a man (Porter) defends himself, his girlfriend and son from an intruder to their house. He chases the guy outside of the house and hits him with a bat and kills him (still on Porter's property though). He gets arrested and charged with murder. He ends up with a public defender, high bail, etc. Pleas down to manslaughter (or similar) as he supposedly wouldn't go to trial for another year (he can't make bail). Ends up in prison and some unfortunate circumstances. Sobering movie. Makes you think "what if" when you have to defend yourself. I don't see myself as having a "good time" in prison.

We saw it. It should be required viewing prior to taking the CHL course. Doing the right thing is not necessarily the right thing.

Haven't seen it, but it's still just a movie. A little like Con Air too. "Why couldn't you just put the bunny down?" In real life, what are the odds of a green beret going to jail for killing one of three attackers with weapons that were threatening to kill you and rape the woman you're with? IMHO, no.

All movies are just movies; however, some movies present mythical scenarios that could give pause to think as we go about our real-life daily rounds. You know, kinda' like the what-if games/roles that are played out on this forum almost daily.

OTOH, oh well...

You've got a point there. And sometimes life is stranger than fiction. So my daughter doesn't freak out when she sees some things on television I say, "It's just a movie. It's not real."

May not be so mythical. A man in England and his brother were sentenced to 30 months for seriously wounding a burglar with a cricket bat when he and two other men broke into his house wielding knives, tied up the family, and threatened to kill them. The man they beat had 50 (yes, fifty) previous criminal convictions. The other two burglars were never caught.

Would never happen in Texas. Outside the realm of Texas I can only speculate

That's what I told my wife (never happen in Texas).
