As usual there may be more to this than we are seeing and reading. But, if the story it correct and accurate, the Judge and DA need to be removed from office. :headscratch

There are some weird, almost conflicting comments in the story such as "there was a Christmas gathering of 15 to 18 people" but "Caldwell...was in bed when several..."

There was a Christmas gathering, but the man was in bed??

I'm also curious why 15 to 18 people couldn't subdue the kid. BUT...I wasn't there, so I'm not snapping judgment.

No matter what the facts, I would not want to be Mr. Caldwell right now. His family will NEVER be the same. Very, very sad.

Remember this is Philadelphia. While PA is gun friendly, Philadelphia is definitely not.

Very strange. If the report is correct, why the heck did they arrest and jail him?

Shouldnt he be free until further investigation? Sounds like self defense to me, and if there were 15 people at the scene did they even corroborate the self defense story?

The arrest could be SOP there. The article also mentioned that around there this charge would normally be an "unbailable" offense. No bail or $2M, doesn't seem to make much difference to me. They could have at least offered the bail because of the circumstances and or were greedy. I would be worried that he would commit suicide.

The shooter was in bed, not the deceased. He was awakened by others because of his son's actions. If my brother wielded a knife in a threatening manner in my house he'd get a gun in his face too. I'm not going to try and subdue anyone with a knife or get into knife fight if I have a gun. My brother has never gotten the better of me in anything, but if he's angry enough or drunk enough to pull a knife on me or anyone else in my house all bets are off. I wouldn't try to kill him, but I would stop him. I'm sure the pastor is seconding guessing his actions. He may be thinking he should have aimed for his shoulder or something else.

Oh yeah, the article was pretty clear about who was in bed...the man, not the son.

I can't pass judgment on this one. I've been too close to a similar situation and cannot be objective.
