North Texans, Prepare for Cold Weather!

News stations around here are saying it's going to be the coldest we've seen it in 13 years. Forecasters saying the low temps in DFW area will be 15 on Wednesday night, and 12 Thursday night. That's Fahrenheit, not Celsius! Saturday night won't be much better with a low of 17.

Make sure your outside water pipes are protected. Let the inside faucets drip so the lines won't freeze up. Bring in the pets. Water pipes burst in weather that severe around here. I've seen it before, and it's not a pretty sight.

BTW, the forecast low Thursday night in Amarillo is 4.

Stay warm! :txflag:

Last I heard there was a possibility of rain too, but I'm stuck in an office at the moment. Let's hope businesses around here shut off their water sprinklers tonight.......

Yes. That link I posted to the weather office has it in there.

On a different note, I went around to 5 different places yesterday(Lowe's Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Wal-Mart) looking for those styrofoam faucet covers, and they are all sold out. Not any to be found. I wound up making some with foam insulation, bubble wrap, and LOTS of duct tape. A wonderful invention.

I hope all our forum friends in the affected areas of the state stay warm and stay off the roads if you don't need to travel. We've been watching the forecast all day in an effort to be prepared in our region, but it looks as though down here towards the Gulf, we're going to be spared the worst of it. Good to be prepared for the worst anyways. Bundle up and hot brandy is always good to warm you from the inside out.

Powerboatr,
I see that you are a member of a shooting club in Mineola. I didn't know they had one. Where is it?
You wouldn't happen to be on Holbrook would you? I spend a lot of weekends there off of CR2297.
