NBA player suspended for displaying guns in locker room

Saw this story today and found it interesting. Obviously both players involved acted like immature imbeciles. But I am always intrigued how the media, especially in the eastern half of the US, never feels the need to actually elaborate on what specific laws were broken. A man had a gun in public - what more do we need to know? Isn't that just illegal by itself? I dunno, probably is in Wash DC. But just dislike how all the media needs to start pointing the finger is "he had a gun", not "he brandished it, in violation of such and such statute".
Anyway, here are some links. The Wash Post story has a lot of details about the locker room confrontation etc.

Arenas said he brought the 4 guns into the DC stadium
from his Virginia home after the birth of his 3rd child.
I don't think the children had anything to do with that move.
He brought the guns in to continue his needling of the other player.
Arenas thought that the "Heller vs. DC" verdict allowed him to
bring his guns to work. But reciprocity does not exist between
2A friendly Virginia and non-2A friendly DC. Now the DC cops are
going to nail him for not observing DC gun law.

Yeah, stuff gets stolen in locker rooms, why would you leave guns just laying around like that.
Sounds like the guy is a moron.

Was watching an NBA game the other night and the announcer stated that he did not think that NBA players or anyone for that matter should own firearms for any reason. He then went on to say that if you feel you need one for protection you should hire security!

Felon Gilbert Arenas, no more guns for him. He will sentenced on 3/26/10 in Washington, D.C.

Interestingly enough, Arenas has been in trouble (with guns) in the past (don't have the details handy), and he should have known better. Even more relevant, he should have paid more attention to the Plaxico Burress incident.
