I dunno....I sure do like Ruger and this one look like a winner. Might have to find a home for one of the little guys



The SR9c compact pistol weighs in at 23.40 oz. and features an overall length of 6.85", a height of 4.61", and the same slim 1.27" grip width (across safety levers) as the full-sized SR9. It comes with two magazines that provide options in both capacity and grip size. The standard magazine holds 10 rounds and features a flat bottom butt plate; a finger grip extension floor plate is also included. The second magazine features a grip adapter and holds 17 rounds, instantly transforming the smaller, compact grip into a full-sized 9mm grip. The 3.50" barreled pistol features an integral accessory rail that accommodates most lights and lasers.

The SR9c compact pistol utilizes the same adjustable, high-visibility 3-Dot sight system as its full-sized predecessor, setting it apart from many compact pistols that rely on fixed sights. New serrations are located on the front portion of the slide, making it easier to both manipulate the slide and to press check the chamber. The SR9c is available with a glass-filled nylon frame and through-hardened slide in either a brushed stainless or blackened finish. State compliant variations are available where necessary and ship with two 10-round magazines.

Just like the original, full-sized SR9, the SR9c is loaded with modern safety features like a 1911-style ambidextrous manual safety, internal trigger bar interlock and striker blocker, trigger safety, magazine disconnect, plus a visual and tactile loaded chamber indicator.

It would be a an addition to the LCP I have. The wife would probably "aquire" it though.

I was thinking of the new Sig P238, but if I can't have .45 I'd rather have 9mm than .38.

How does the size compare with the Sig P238?

So how much "bigger" is this than the LCP?

That not bad at all. Anyone know the difficulty in field stripping this model (looks at their .22LR pistols-shudder)

That would complement Beretta and Springfield's croatian made XD pistol. Plus It is made in America.

Its not fair that my Kimber is in the shop and I am especially subject to purchasing temptations.

How many more safeties does one need? Keep this up and one might not know how to load or

I'd prefer a double action myself with manual decocker. I'm not the most comfortable with cocked and locked single action.

Nice looking piece and Ruger has a strong name.
I recently went on a 2 month quest for the perfect 9mm carry. While I am now in agreement with the majority of CC'ers that say any purchase is a compromise, I realized that for me, the most important aspect was width. There are many SA's on the market in the 1.25" range, but few under 1". In the end, it came down to the Walther PPS or Kahr P9, which both measure 0.9". I went with the Kahr P9 and haven't regretted it. Great gun and flawless so far in operation.

I'm a Ruger fan and I have an SR9 and love it, haven't seen any of the problems that are mentioned on the different forums. I'll definitely look at the SR9c as another carry option, we'll see after I get to handle one.

I know what you mean about the Ruger .22 pistols, I have a MK I that I love to shoot but absolutely hate to take apart for cleaning. Well, taking it apart is easy, it's putting it back together that can be frustrating sometimes. If the SR9c is like it's big brother SR9, field stripping and reassembly is a snap, nothing at all like the Mark's.

For carry I think it will *feel* much bigger than an LCP. Here's a photo of an XD9sc which is very similar is size to the SR9c (although the SR9c is more rounded across the top of the slide and narrower at the base of the slide), and a Sig P238 which is similar in size to the LCP. This will just give you a rough idea. The SR9c is also quite a bit wider than some of the single-stack 9mm's like the Kahr PM9. I don't think the SR9c will be a "pocket" pistol although it looks like a very nice gun.

Hopefully they do something with that horrendous trigger. I had an opportunity to run some rounds through one at the range a while back and the trigger was horrible, close to one of the worst triggers I have ever felt.

I wish Glock would quit being so stubborn and make a single stack G26.

I don't see any advantage to the new Ruger that isn't already taken care of by a Glock 26, 19 or HK P2000SK. Besides I prefer a carry sidearm with out a manual safety and with out a mag disconnect. When will Ruger wake up and make a new semi auto that doesn't have a mag disconnect safety or the billboard warning on the side.

You are aware that you can deactivte the mag disconnect feature on SR9's?
