Non 30.06 Signs

I am a new CHL holder and have some confusion about when I am allowed to carry. In class I learned if there is a 51%, 30.06 sign or another type of sign restricting carry, that I must not take my weapon inside. A long time CHL holder is telling me that the only notification needed is a 51% or a proper 30.06 sign. My confusion comes from two resent establishments I went to.
The first was a Hooters that had a red bumper sticker that said "possession of a handgun is prohibited" The sticker was on a window by the front door, but had a poster hanging a foot in front of it. You could not see the sticker from the door. The only way to see it was by walking around the poster. As a new CHL holder, I was being hyper vigilant looking for the 51% sign. Is this proper notification for me to return to my car and lock up my gun?
The second was at a doctors office. On the door in plain sight there was a picture of a handgun with a red slash over it. It also said "No Handguns". Is this proper notification?
My friend is telling me that neither of these are proper and I could continue to carry inside. Please help this newbie follow the law.

You got it right. The sign must be a proper 30.06 or 51%.
Then there are the places that are off-limits by statute and don't need signs, such as schools and courthouses, listed in Penal Code 46.03 and 46.035. You know them by heart, of course.

As Jim says above, the described are not proper signs.
The signs you describe apply to non-CHL holders and don't require any discussion with the management of either business. IOW, 'let sleeping dogs lie'.
BTW, welcome to the forum.

No. It's a suggestion to go spend your money somewhere else.
You can legally carry there, but why give money to people who advertise their intolerance of your civil rights?

I guess you don't buy anything produced in another country, other than Israel.

I comply with proper PC30.06 signs and 51% signs, and of course I don't carry in any of those establishments where carry is explicitly prohibited by law.
Since the law is very specific on what constitutes notification, non-compliant signs I ignore, as they have NO legal standing in regard to licensed concealed carry.

Switzerland is not all that RKBA-friendly. They just have good public-relations people.
They require militia service from male adults, and allow them to keep their rifles afterward; but they prohibit carrying loaded weapons; and they are as restrictive of handguns as most of the rest of Europe.

The Swiss, French, and Belgians make excellent chocolate.
I don't base my purchases on the politics of the country that produced the products. If I did, I could hardly buy anything. That was the point that I was trying to make.
