At what # of firearms did it become "Too many" with your spouse/significant other? For mine it was 2, but I still have 7, and I think I'm running out of excuses to buy new ones and the "Zombie attack" reason has never worked

When my wife and I got married, I already had a reasonably good collection of guns. The idea that I would "need" another does not make sense to her. On the other hand, she has more shoes than I can count. What we do is each of us budget a monthly allowance which we spend on whatever we want. She saves hers until she can get whatever pair of shoes she wants and I save up for more guns. We then look at each other in bewilderment because we can't understand each other's purchase choices! It definitely keeps peace in the house though.

To many??? There's no such thing! You start out with one gun, then add another. Another comes along and before you know it you have an "accumulation" of guns.

You go to a store or gun show(my downfall) and there's that 'gotta have' , 'has my name on it gun and you buy it. Your accumulation grows, and pretty soon it's changed to a collection.

Ahhhh collection! There's no end limit on how big a collection has to be. Mine stopped at around 27 or 28...I lost count. I never ran out of excuses as I always used the "collection", or "investment" approach. It worked for meeeeee.

You can have too many firearms only if you are swimming.

Can you get your spouse or significant other interested in shooting? That will solve the problem.

If not, this is a Dear Abby type of question. How much of your income do you get to spend on yourself; and how much control does the other partner want to exert, and why?

I'm over 30 and she still hasn't said anything...

To quote an old MTV commercial that will date me (back to a time when MTV played music videos, some of which were even by rock bands that played guitars instead of ryhming over the sound of scratched vinyl records) ...

I never thought of "investment" gotta try that one! I have found it easier to get holsters and the like, because I can just call them "clothes" and she can't argue.

Believe me, I've tried to get her into shooting, she grew up with a mother that HATES firearms (I guess they're just going to jump up and shoot someone) She's a good shot, and she can outshoot most with my Glock 22, she just doesn't get enjoyment out of shooting paper, or targets for that matter.

Wait, you can have income to spend on yourself?! We don't have a set #, but we talk about it. The problem is that Guns cost more up front than let's say your 900'th blouse, it's all a matter of wearing her down.

Just like clothes, guns can "keep you covered."

That may be the case. So, you just save your set allowance longer then she has to.

But, in 10 years will the guns or apparel be worth more? If you get in a bind down the road you can sell guns off for good money. What can a 10 year old blouse be sold for? Not much I would guess.

In this house, she buys most of the guns! And they become more numerous and more expensive. We may be in a positive feedback loop here....

I think I'm making her out in a bad light, and I don't mean to. She's very supportive I just have to provide a good reason for needing another one, or let her buy something expensive and use it against her in the future

I get mean looks when I try because I strech them out. They don't fit anyway...
