Mailing Address Change

I am going to be changing my mailing address from one PO Box to a different PO Box. My CHL only shows my physical address, but was delivered to my PO Box. PO Box is how we get our mail, not via physical address. I'm not sure if I need to do the CHL on line address change because my physical address is not changing, or just try to call them. Does anyone know the most painless way to inform them of a mailing address change? Just trying to prevent any confusion and get it right the first time. Thanks for any advise.

Since you are not changing your physical address on the license, I am not sure you can do this online. Best thing to do is call DPS.

If I remember correctly , isn't there a space on the application (besides your physical address) that you can use an alternate address to have your licenses mailed to ?

To me it sounds like you used your PO BOX address for the sole purpose of having your license mailed to you.

If the address on your DL matches the address on your CHL , You should be good.

CHL and DL do match, I just want them to have a good mailing address for any kind of notice they may send out. I guess the best thing would be to call and get it changed. From a lot of post I've read on the this forum, it sounds like they have made a lot of improvements in the CHL department so maybe it will happen with no hiccups.

Yep ,that's probably the best thing to do...just to make sure that you cover all your bases.

Just an update for anyone interested. I called and was told to go to DPS and fill out a form CR70, mail it in with $25, and that will get the mailing address changed. They could not do it over the phone. The person I talked to said it would be fine to wait until about 6 months before expired date and do it then so they will send the renewal packet to the right address. Seems like a very large fee just to change a mailing address but that's the way it is. Thanks for the advice.

Can you just send a change of address card from the post office for the mailing address change? I thought the law says you only have to pay for a change of address of you move from the address stated on your license.

I would think you'd only need to pay if the licence needed to be reissued. A change of mailing address should be free. IMO
